Rules for sale and consumption of alcohol

As a visitor / newly relocated in Norway you need to understand and follow these rules.

Sale in supermarkets of drinks which contain alcohol (less than 4.75 %) are available to buy at these times:

During the week: 09.00 - 20.00

Saturdays: 09.00 - 18.00

Sundays: It's not permitted to purchase alcohol in supermarkets.

It is however allowed to purchase alcohol free / light beers (2.5% alcohol or lower)from supermarkets. This is possible every day, during opening hours.

Alcoholic beverages with an alcohol percent over 4.75% are only available to buy at the *Vinmonopolet* in Øvre Årdal (this is like an off licence)
