Marriage at the registry

It is possible to get married at the registry in Årdal. All marriage requests will have to be agreed upon with the municipality well in advance.

Prices

The ceremony is free of charge if the points below are fulfilled:

  • You are a local resident
  • The ceremony takes place at the town hall, Statsråd Evensensveg 4
  • Between Monday- Friday
  • Between 10am – 4pm

If you are not living in Årdal, but the rest of the points are fulfilled, the price of the marriage appointment is NOK 1000.

The ceremony costs NOK 2500 if one of the following points below is what you would prefer:

  • Outside of town hall
  • During a weekend
  • Outside the 10am-4pm timeframe

Procedures before you can get married

Before you can get married, the Norwegian Tax Administration must check whether you meet the conditions for entering into marriage. This means that you have to provide some information. The process takes about five to six weeks, so make sure you allow plenty of time before the wedding.
